Toric Contact Lenses for Astigmatism

Toric contact lenses are designed for people who have astigmatism. Toric contacts have two different powers (curvatures) in the same lens - one for astigmatism and the other for either near-sightedness (myopia) or far-sightedness (hyperopia). Many toric contact lenses are weighted on one end in order to keep the lens from rotating on your eye for the best vision.

Toric contact lenses are made of the same materials as regular (spherical) contacts and come in soft, RGP (rigid gas permeable) and disposable varieties. Some people prefer the hard RGP toric contacts as they keep their shape on the eye the best, resulting in the most crisp vision. There are even bifocal toric contact lenses available.
